You'll never get a date everyone can do, so you may aswell pick one and go with it.

For me, this is a date in my calendar that I re-arrange other things around it's the only racing I still do, and I wouldn't miss it for a nuclear holocaust.

Quote from jasonmatthews :Nope £90 in total.

Can't argue with that.

I could do with the date being confirmed as soon as possible too because I have a wedding to RSVP on, and this takes priority over wearing a dress but I am being chased and can't answer until I know for sure if ill be in Wales instead.

I'll be there! Will sort payment out in the next couple of days.

Edit: Just to clarify, it's £90 + £20 = £110 ?

The bus link out West of Amsterdam is pretty good as far as Haarlem, after that I think it all goes country lanes so you'll probably have to switch bus in Haarlem, but the train will go direct.

Quote from The Very End :Is this one of those things that will totally brain **** me for the rest of my life?

I dunno. Some people are shocked at stuff other people consider more tame than a guide dog. *shrug* - but it's nothing I would consider bizarre personally, although not really my thing.

I managed to crack the sump guard underneath by taking some air, but hopefully the car is still roadworthy. I've got to get it through an MOT sometime soon so I guess I'll find out

Quote : The TT is just a heavy 2 seated VAG product, souless with a uninteresting engine that goes well.. (2.0T)

I'm not really sure what defines a soul for an engine. Whilst I agree completely with the weight issue on the TT (and cited the AWD as a big issue in that regard), I think the engine is very good. I've had cars with more horsepower but they did have much larger engines, whereas my 10 year old TT is knocking out 225hp from just 2 litres - I get mpg in the mid 30's and can pretty much drive any speed I desire and get there very quickly. Modern TT's have a newer engine that's kicking out even more hp - and touch wood, I've had no mechanical issues with the engine yet.

Quote :Get a 350z if rear seats are not needed. The power to scare you shitless...

They're notably more expensive to buy than a TT, but maybe in a few years

For nightlife my favorite place is the Korsakoff.

There's a lot of great art in Amsterdam - but **** all that and go to the Cat Museum. Cat's are awesome. Unless you don't like cats, in which case you can go choke yourself on weed.

If you were lesbian I'd recommend a Bever shop, but you're not, so there's nothing there for you unless you are weirdly into hiking.

The red light district is quite small these days, it's worth a walk through just for the novelty of it.

When you see weird hot food dispensers in the street or a fast food bar, then get a cheesy thing. Cheesy things in breadcrumb are awesome. If you don't like cheese then you can go choke yourself on cat hair.

There's a 7-a-side womens rugby tournament on whilst you are there, so your odds of the woman you are hitting on turning out to be a big butch dyke are higher than ever.

You might also catch Europerv, if you like PVC.

Don't touch Wolfrace with a barge pole.

There is a difference between cast and forged in terms of the durability of the wheel and whether it survives the odd kerbing - but sadly very few nice looking wheels are forged and they're too expensive for what they are.

Aside from that if ordering via the internet be prepared for "in stock" to mean: Yes it's in stock *at the manufacturer's German/Singapore plant (because none of the net retailers in that trade carry the stock themselves).

If you decide on Rota's let me know I should be able to get you a discount. I no longer have an affiliation with any of the others but in my view they're pretty much all the same in terms of service and quality so don't let brand sway your buying decision - infact many of the brands are owned by the same few companies, they just target different niches.

Audi TT SUV or Sports Car?

I've had one for about 6 months now, and it's been an interesting relationship. Usually I know if I like a car straight away, and that's pretty easily surmised by whether the sound of the engine blows out ear drums.

The Audi TT is a curious beast. On my very first go in the car the thing which stood out was the cockpit view and driving position along with all the oval dials, it was quite unlike any other car I had owned and felt a bit like a Le Mans GT car but in miniature. I liked it.

The next stand out feature was the engine, it's very good. I have the 2.0 litre turbo which out of the factory belted out 225hp. That's quite a lot for a 2 litre engine, mine is 10 years old and most of that power is still there, I've not dyno'd it or anything like that but the car still gets to 60 quicker than most of the other road cars I've driven except for super cars. The book says 6.5 seconds, and that feels about right.

For the first couple of months of owning it I had terrible trouble with speeding, after 2 years driving a diesel the throttle responsiveness was impressive to say the least - and I did most journeys at 20-30 mph above my intended travel speed quite by accident. I have got used to it now.

When you put your foot down in a TT you know the car is capable of going extremely quick, quicker than it is safe or prudent to do so. And herein lies the first real problem: I can belt along the local country roads at 70, 90 or even in excess of 100 - but the car will go quicker.

The car will get airbourne on one particular section of local road at those speeds and the stiffness does make for scary grinding noises as you land, but apart from that no matter how quick I go the car feels like it would go a lot faster if I didn't have to think about horses, tractors, or dog walkers around the next bend - so no matter how quickly I take corners or how much loud pedal I use, the car just isn't as much fun as it could be if only it was a bit more crap.

The second problem with the TT is it's drive wheels. It's a "fulltime 4 wheel drive" according to Audi, but it's actually a Haldex clutch system with 95% power going to the front wheels except when slipping whereupon power is then transferred back. This system is utterly pointless.

For one, it's hard to predict on which wheels your power is going to go down at the very moment when you are on the edge of grip, so the software takes over and ensures that if you do break the limits you get understeer. So essentially the car is a front wheel drive once you are moving but has more traction when pulling away off the line.

The other downside of the drive system is it's weight, it puts so much extra mass into the car that in the final count it's only a few kg lighter than a Seat Leon with the same engine - so is it even a sports car?

I've driven sports cars with smaller engines that where much more fun, and I've driven heavier sports cars with massive engines that ruined knickers, but the Audi TT is neither of these things, it isn't really a sports car. It's a big heavy SUV mated to a sports car.

But it is a 2 seeter, well that is to say that it's got a tiny rear bench seat which gives the car enough seating for two lesbians and their cat, it's basically nice trim to delineate between the cockpit and the boot space.

The traction control and EPS is nice, but you have to be stationary to turn it off which is a pain in the ass. I appreciate that they need to make buttons like that work in such a way that you can't turn them off by accident - but when it snows and I want to arrive into my parking space at work backwards then I expect a sports car to damn well let me, instead of juddering like ping pong ball on a washing machine the moment that the handbrake is applied.

Overall a car that I at times love, and other times regret. If they ditched the four wheel drive then it would be a lot more fun.

Quote from Mustafur :Im glad im not from the UK, as to me you all sound the same, but to you guys you will notice any slight difference in accent.

Yes we are all the same. Much like every single Australian ever who comes to Blighty and works behind a bar in a London pub. Distinguishing themselves from ET only by the fact that they never go home.

I don't think it can be that hard to use an actor from the country in question. At least if he sounded English I could accept his accent being wrong. James Hunt spoke like the Queen and mostly spent his time recounting the story of how he raced with a leather rag between his legs for cleaning his visor. It isn't that hard to find a blonde Englishman with a girls hair cut who likes sticking his dick in a cloth.

Watched the trailer, heard a genuine southern texan oil tycoon. In any case, it's TOTALLY WRONG!

Re: Cars exploding and whatnot. Well, if you want to see a film when a car crashes and doesn't explode, watching a film based on Niki Lauda isn't the one for you.

It's pretty tough for women to get into F1, it's still very much an old boys club - that and that fact that so many people will say she's only there because she's a woman. The only way for a woman to get to F1 is by being genuinely bloody brilliant, and if she doesnt regularly beat her team mate then she isn't going to last.

One day however, we'll be having this discussion over a female driver on the F1 periphery who is neither blonde nor fake-blonde. But I fear we are still a long way off that! Or even less likely: an UGLY woman driver.

(Yes I know Danica Patrick is brunette, I was semi-kidding).

Quote from Töki (HUN) :Am I the only one who thinks the guy who plays Hunt simply doesn't really fit the role?

I grew up and got addicted to F1 in Britain during the era when James Hunt was providing commentary alongside Murray Walker. At least, most of the season (I remember 3 races when he said nothing at all because he was outside the commentary box ****ing).

For me James Hunt is as much a voice as he was a blonde playboy, and I simply don't think I can stand a rendition of him that sounds so swashbucklingly American.

But the cars are beautiful, it was an eventful season, and both Hunt and Lauda were amazingly brilliant drivers. It could make for interesting viewing.

Even if the cars do have 38 gears, regularly take off, overtake more in one race than they ever did in a season in reality and spend most of their time onscreen side by side.

The reality of course, was that races in that era regularly saw top 6 finishing cars not even on the lead lap.

Previous handling of the RAM boards without earthing protection may have damaged the transistors within the chips, causing them to fail whilst the computer was in use - which most likely would show up on booting or restarting of the computer.

My best guess is that its nothing to do with the graphics drivers, the failure was just waiting for a reboot.

If you are not familiar with ESD handling procedures, here's a cheating way of doing it without forking out for a wrist strap.

When working on computer components keep your feet still and one hand touching bare metal in the case. Leave the power cord connected but switched off at the wall. Don't wear woolen clothes or run your hands through your hair, if ever you grow your mullet out into a heavy metal hairdo, tie it back before starting work on the computer.

Remember that we humans feel amps not volts, but computer components feel both. Whilst most components these days are littered with capacitors to absorb ESD discharges there is only so much capacity they have before the excess runs through the circuits and causes strain on components that simply aren't designed to handle the voltages we create. A human being in clothes can easily generate tens of thousands of volts, and your components are designed to withstand 5 of these volts.

Hey Jack you got your dream car, nice Now just to paint it up eh :P

I've been tempted to get a dash cam. I know everyone makes mistakes and part of being a good driver is avoiding other peoples mistakes. And I realise that I make them too.

It's just the ratio of what I avoid versus what I cause hardly seems fair.

Am I the only one who sees the GON and thinks of a certain STD...?

I skim watched it, on the whole a reasonable production.

Well done, I know how much effort this kind of thing is to make.

I would suggest getting some camera software, the default LFS camera focuses on 1 car centre frame and that always feels very fake to me, a real TV broadcast motor race rarely keeps 1 car centre frame and often it isnt the best view to see cars side-by-side - but there are a few insim applications that already handle this stuff and don't cost a penny.

The other advice I would give is to pitch your vocal volume with the action, changes in volume and pace of your speech will help to build excitement and keep viewer interest.

I hope this is received as constructively as intended.

Quote from The Very End :Oh..? What happend with it?

He's gone back to his original owner - my sister. He is quite ill at the moment and my local vet repeatedly dismissed his symptoms, so he is being treated by a vet local to my sister and he'll need lifelong care

In the end it seemed better for him to go back to my sister as her home is more suited to his needs and closer to a vet who understands his condition, so although I'm paying half the vet bills at the moment he won't be my cat again unless I can arrange for my sister to have an accident: Nothing fatal, perhaps something leaving her in a wheelchair or something .

I am going to be a cat owner again though in a few months. I considered a Norwegian Forest Cat, but like all Norwegians they are very high maintenance - so I am planning on a Bengal and an Oriental.

So something like

Leopard.

Gremlin.

Thread just will not die!

I no longer have Captain Fluffster. I am petless without a single lesbian status symbol anywhere in sight.

I do however plan on re-catting my home soon with a couple of new kittens. Not ordinary kittens either, I don't do ordinary. I'm going to get a Gremlin and a Leopard.

Seriously.

Will post in a couple of months when I am suitably surrounded by pussy again.
